Fall Shoe Trends: Are You Ready?

Shoes.com released their 2010 fall shoe trend list.  Here it is, minus the pics:

  1. Military
  2. Clogs
  3. Cuffed Boots
  4. Desert Boots
  5. Over-The-Knee Boots
  6. Oxfords
  7. Platform Pumps
  8. Hardware Details
  9. Animal Prints
  10. Frosty Fashion

Me?  I’ve got a pair of military boots on their way to me right now (they’ll be here Friday).  I don’t have clogs, but I have a couple pairs of cuffed (or cuffable) boots.  I have OTK boots, both flat and heeled (yay for those, because they’re new and hot!).  I have oxfords, though they need to be stretched a tad bit.  I do have platform pumps, but they’re more MaryJane style.  I don’t really have hardware-detailed shoes, but am planning on making something for a pair of booties that need spicing up.  I don’t have animal print or frosty fashion (do Ugg-type boots count?), and I’m ok with that.  So, as far as the trends go, I feel like I’m pretty set for fall 🙂

If you’re looking to add some of these looks to your closet this fall, check out my picks for each trend.  Each pic is a link direct to the item on various sites.  I’ve kept each pair under $50, ’cause hey, I get not wanting to spend a lot of money on trends 🙂  Also, some of my picks overlap trends, which is cool… and most are available in other colors too, just so you know.

Military

Clogs

Cuffed Boots

Desert Boots
This is the only section I was unable to keep it under $50 😦 Sorry!

Over-The-Knee Boots

Oxfords

Platform Pumps

Hardware Details

Animal Prints

Frosty Fashion

The above linked items were chosen by me with no pay or endorsement requests from the stores.

New Bill Could Protect Designers From Being Knocked Off

New Bill Could Protect Designers From Being Knocked Off; “Great first step for designers,” says Leading Intellectual Property Lawyer.

Interesting read.  Any thoughts?

I’m not sure how I feel about it just yet… I need to think some more.

Emergency Flats

What girl doesn’t need a pair of flats to keep in her purse (or glovebox even)?  I know I’ve been in that place before where I’ve struggled after a really long day, and have either just gone barefoot, or risked destroying my feet (and/or my sanity) by keeping my shoes on.

Well, there’s a perfect pair of shoes for those kinds of days.  Enter the Fold A Sole Portable Emergency Flats, which are just $25!  Genius!

Recycling Wardrobe & DIY Magic

So, with many folks still struggling to make ends meet with the way the economy is (I know, I know, we’re all tired of hearing about it), I figured I’d share some pretty awesome DIY projects and blogs that might even be made from items you :gasp: already have sitting in your closet!  So, here you go!

Some specific projects… but be sure to check some of these sites for other DIY projects!

And some general DIY blogs that are awesome!

I’m sure there are TONS out there, just search “DIY Fashion” or “Recycled Fashion” 🙂

You can also see a bunch of photos on the Tirage Studio Facebook Page.

Thanks to all who came out to support the Live Out Loud Charity!  It was an incredible event!

Get The Look: A Breath of Fresh Air

I haven’t done this set in quite some time… largely because I’ve been busy with other stuff.  Bringin’ it back for kicks.

Look 9:
This shot is actually one of my 365 self-portraits, but I thought it would be a good one to do.  Here’s the shot…

Get The Look:
Pair a simple black A-line dress with T-strap high heels.  Though it is hard to see, I wore simple CZ studs and a multichain necklace.  For makeup, I did creme blush on the apples of my cheeks swept up to my temples, smudgy black liner, black mascara, and just a touch of a neutral shimmer (I didn’t use the dark side of the shadow duo).  It’s a pretty simple look that’s elegant without being over the top.  I had actually worn this outfit to work that day.

My Everyday Style 20

I know, I’ve been lacking on this series.  Good news is, I’ve got a ton of outfits to publish thanks to Polyvore 🙂

For those who aren’t aware, hubby and I are finally taking a honeymoon.  Good news is, we are managing to do so within the first year of our marriage!  Woot!  Anyway, I’ve been using Polyvore to help me plan outfits to bring 😉  So this blog will be a little different (as well the ones following it), because instead of linking to each individual item, I’m going to link you direct to my Polyvore set, which makes it easier for you to shop!

Look 20: Laid Back Linen
I found a great pair of white linen pants at Discovery Clothing last week, and was inspired by them to make this set.  Since I’m not one to wear all white, I broke it up with a black tank and a denim jacket (in case it’s chilly), as well as a Liberty of London clutch from Target, and this super cute Eugina Kim for Target fedora (for some extra pops of color).  I snagged these great white wedges from Cutesygirl (where else, right?) and thought the sea horse necklace was a cute nautical touch.  I figure coral nails will really pop against all the neutrals and hints of blues and greens.  I figure this outfit will be perfect for a casual night out, or a day strolling around one of the towns 🙂

Get The Look: Shop using Polyvore!  Click here to find out where to get the items featured above.

The above items were chosen by me with no pay or endorsement requests from the stores, and I have no affiliation with Polyvore.

Random Mini-Updates

Articles for Model Insider
So it looks like I’ll be writing some articles for www.modelinsider.com at some point.  Both some new content, and converting some of my blogs into articles.  Neato! 🙂 Should be really awesome.  Articles I write for them, I’ll likely partially post here and link there, so ya’ll can read them… but I gotta see what the agreements are and whatnot.

Print at Bridal Shop
Took a print that Laura Ann made for the bridal shop I got my wedding dress at, Doris Bridal in Highwood, IL.  They were beyond thrilled to have the matted print, are looking at framing it, and will display it in their shop 🙂 Laura and Christin (the HS/MUA who rocked the shoot) will both send them business cards to have on hand as well.  Pretty sweet!  Here’s the shot:

Workshops Galore!
This weekend marks the start of what will hopefully be
a lengthy course of workshops through 2010 and beyond.  Not including, of course, the first modeling workshop from last year whenever… but yea.  I’ve partnered with Studio 2 Imaging in Lake Zurich to do workshops, and we’re starting out with Boudoir Bootcamp, which is designed to help photographers looking to get into the boudoir market make their clients look their absolute best.  The following weekend I’m working with photographer Jim Jurica to bring “Makeup for Photoshoots” to models and photographers interested in learning how to apply makeup specifically for shoots.  Both will be great, and at this point we’re planning on doing a second Boudoir Bootcamp, because space is limited at Studio 2 and there are a lot of interested folks.

If you’re interested in reading more about the workshops, getting updates on when we’re doing more, and even RSVPing to the “Makeup for Photoshoots” one (RSVPs are still open), check out the MeetUp group I’m an Organizer of, Chicago ‘Burbs Mayhem.

Long-Awaited Honeymoon
Looks like Hubby and I are finally going to get to take a honeymoon 🙂 Thanks to the generosity of both sets of our parents, we’ve got a flight to and from Hawaii and a week at a resort in Maui!  Wooo!  Keep an eye out for EDS sets based on that trip (I know, I’m behind)!

The 365 Portrait Project
Someone made mention of this project, which is essentially taking a portrait a day for a year.  I think I’m going to start this at some point soon.  Self-portraits.  Going to be fun methinks 🙂 I just gotta wait until… sometime not now. Our “little” camera is on the fritz, so I’m thinking of picking up a P&S for the honeymoon, as a surprise to Hubby.

My Everyday Style 17

Taking a break from the vacation wardrobe because I’m totally in love with the outfit I’m wearing as I write this, so you’re getting it!

Look 17: Geek Girl
It’s warming up a bit here, so I’m moving away from wearing shearling boots and towards wearing Chucks again 🙂 I love me my Chucks!  I decided, going thru my closet this morning, to push the dress code at work a little and wear a shirt with a picture and a word on it… but hid the word with my blazer.  Because I worry about shirts that are more fitted riding up inappropriately, I tossed a longer black tank on underneath.  I’m in glasses mode right now, so I’ll consider them a part of the outfit 😉 Simple earrings, and that’s it.

A quick word about the awesome shirt… it was made by a designer (who’s name I don’t know–if you do, feel free to comment!) for a website called TeeFury.  TeeFury has one T design available every day, in either 1 or 2 colors (different for men’s and women’s sometimes), and once the day is over, the shirt is gone forever.  When I saw this shirt, featuring the prominent vehicles/character cars from the 80’s junked up and being sold as scrap, I had to have the shirt, so I snagged it (along with one for Hubby).  I’ve linked TeeFury below, but you won’t likely find this particular design available online anywhere.

The Look:

Get The Look: As usual, the items not available online aren’t linked.
Shoes: Converse (in Charcoal); Jeans: See Thru Soul (a TJMaxx find, also available at Nordstrom & Macy’s); Earrings: Express; Black Tank: Target; Awesome Tee: TeeFury (check out their awesome daily tees!); Blazer: Forever21; Glasses: Kenneth Cole (they’re real glasses, not fake ones, and about 8 years old).

The above linked items were chosen by me with no pay or endorsement requests from the stores.
